It's November already?

Can you believe that it's November already??  I can't!!!  This year went by so fast!  the summer was like a blink,  fall is just as quick!  We are setting back the clocks this weekend (this I am NOT upset about) I can use that extra hour in the morning.  It is so dark at 5:30 in the morning it feels like it's the middle of the night!  Not that it's going to be much different an hour later, but still....it'll be closer to daybreak.

Hunting season has arrived at our house.  which means that I will become a hunting widow...which is not bad...because that's when I become a stitching goddess!  LOL  Hubby has already left for the weekend so that leave me and Mom and Lulu.  Yea...girls weekend...lots of stitching for me.  My plans for tonight....taking a nice long bubble bath and then stitching until midnight!  aaaahhhhh  heaven!

So yesterday was Halloween at the clinic, it was so much fun.  It was nice because almost everyone dressed up this year.  (must be new management...tee hee hee)  I was the Queen of Hearts this year, Shelley was the Mad Hatter, and Ashley was Alice.  We were definitely a hit, lots of patients asked us to pose together so they could take pics.

I've had a finish and some progress pics to show.  There's a Halloween piece that I was working on but it didn't get finished in time.  I am going to finish cross stitching it this weekend though and I'll post that when it's done.  I finished another Dimensions ornament Ho Ho Ho.  Love the way it turned out.  I have to one weekend this month do a finishing weekend as well, so that all these ornaments will make it to my tree this year.  I also started and am participating in Plum Street Samplers Sunday Mystery sampler...called Mary's Sampler 2.  There are two versions, 1 and 2...2 having more detail. It turns out to be a nice little morning stitch on Sunday mornings and then I move on to Humboldt Coast, which I haven't worked on for a few Sunday's but I did manage this past Sunday.

So that's it....That's about as caught up as I'm going to be today.....have a great Friday everyone!

A Summer of Sundays

Oh dear!!!  My poor abandoned little blog!  Would you believe that I actually do visit my blog every day, not to post, but to look at my blog list to see what you all have written.   So I have been here in spirit and behind the screen/keyboard, just not posting.  I always have good intentions, but alas....here I am again, wondering if I still have friends out there in blogger-land.

So what's happened since I last posted.....oh yea...I was walk, walk, walking.  And I did!  I walked every day during the challenge, and then when the challenge was over I stopped.  GRRRR at myself.  The six pounds that I lost I gained back with 4 more added to it.  GRRRR at myself.  I'll have to do some thinking and see how I'm going to tackle this weight thing once and for all.  My torn meniscus doesn't make it very easy to do too much exercise, so biking, walking and water are pretty much the only thing that I can handle right now.  but it's a good start...just have to talk myself into it...develop a strategy....and follow it through.  yep...that's all...that's all I gotta do....yep........  :o/

So how was everyone's summer.   We had the flood of the century here in Calgary in June.  We were fine where we were, we are up higher from the riverbanks.  However we did have some friends that lost quite a bit....but thank God they are fine and it was only "things" that they lost.

We spent lots of weekends camping, and doing day trips....lovely time together with hubby.  Which we needed for the times that are ahead.  Hubby opened his own company! Yes he did!  So proud of him, but it's lots of stress and lots of worry and lots of work but in the end it will all be amazing....and we are already starting to see the fruits of our (his) labour.

I did stitch...I was just too lazy to take them out of the q-snaps to take a pic, but today I finally did.  So here they all are.....

1st my Sunday SAL with Kati - Humboldt Coast.....every Sunday I work on this....I just love it.

Second is a Christmas ornie for Liam...it's Christmas Sock Monkey. It can be found in the 2010 JCS Christmas Issue.

Lastly there is another ornament that I stitched for me....first because of the sentiment and then secondly because of the cardinal.  It's a Dimensions kit.  I have another one as well, that I'm hoping to start and finish this weekend.

And finally I have to share a pic of the Queen of Shiba's....Lulu...it's been a while since I've shared a picture.  She turned 3 in August...my baby is all grown up  :)

Such a Successful IHSW weekend!

I had such a great stitching weekend and still had time to visit with friends, and go grocery shopping and get everything that had to be done...done!

First and foremost I FINISHED Hummingbird!  OH MY!  It is soooo beautiful in person! No scan or picture that I took to try to capture it did it justice.  So you'll have to take my word for it.  I'm sure that Laura will be pleased.  If not then I'm taking it back and hanging it in my house! That was Friday night. You might wonder why I have signed it Lulu 2010.  Well that was because Laura was Lulu's breeder, and Lulu was born in 2010.  So I wanted her to always remember Lulu :))

Then on Saturday, I stitched up PS's Three French Hens.  So I'm on track with that too.

Sunday was SAL Sunday with Kati.  I worked some more on Suzannah.  Her proportions are bothering me...but I'm plugging along and it will come together. I love stitching her....I really wanted to give her a head but I didn't get that far this week.  But it looks like I'll get there next weekend.

So that is my IHSW report!

Hummingbird update

I love how this is coming along!  It's a lot of work and a lot of piddly, little detailed stuff, but it sure pays off at the end of the day and you can see it. :)  It's now official my mother has asked for her own.  So I will be stitching this again, but I think that I'm going to wait and stitch it for her for Christmas.  I was thinking Mother's day, but that's too soon to start it up right away again.  So I'm thinking Christmas will be good and I won't have to wrack my brain trying to figure out what to get her.

This Sunday starts Suzannah, the last of the 4 girls by CHS.  I've got everything together almost accept for a couple of skeins of floss.

In April starts another SAL, the sign up is on my sidebar if anyone cares to join us.  It's Lizzie Kate's 4 Fat Snowmen!!  Sooooo cute!!  It will be a Monday night SAL so not a big commitment.  Join us!! :)  Now I just have to decide what I want to stitch it on....should I go neutral?  I've seen lots on the neutral colours and they are so pretty.  But then I've also seen shades of blue which is just as pretty.  So there's some floss tossing that I have to do to see what I want. :)   LOVE floss tossing :)

For those that do comment...I have turned off the word verification on the comments.  Too annoying.  This is a Word Verification Free Zone

IHSW post

I had a great weekend of stitching for IHSW!  Saturday I didn't get any stitching done, we took a little road trip with hubby and then went to the Lacrosse game on Saturday night, both were fantastic!  But Friday night I started and finished 2 Turtle Doves by PS!  I love working on these!

Sunday was a great day of stitching as well, and because here in Alberta today was Family Day, we had a long weekend, so I spent an extra afternoon working on Hummingbird as well.  The scan doesn't do it any justice, the colors on this project are so pretty!  I'm afraid my mom is falling in love with this one and I think that she's hinting that she might want one for herself once I'm finished this one...but we'll have to see about that one.  I do think that it's stitching up pretty quickly despite all the detail.

Meet Mary Margaret!

Yeah!  She's finished, and she's wonderful!  And I love her!  And she was actually finished last week Sunday, but hubby had left the camera up at his friend's place and I couldn't take a picture of her.  I tried with my phone, but I don't have one of those fancy phones and the pic was horrible, so I just waited patiently.  But YEAH!  She's finished!

Kati and I have talked about when to start Suzannah, the fourth and final girl in the series and we decided that we will start her on the first Sunday of March.  So that we both, (Well me mainly) have time to stitch on some other things on Sundays.  So I'm going to take the time to make Hummingbird and Fuschia my focus piece for the rest of February, accept for this weekend, when I'll be stitching the Second Day of Christmas by PS for the IFHW! (this weekend ladies, if you want to join us.  You can click the button on my sidebar to sign up.

Speaking of Hummingbirds....here's the progress that I've made on it...not much, but I'm thinking I'm going to have a few good hours on it this weekend.  Have some plans for Saturday night but it's also a long weekend here this coming weekend. So even if we have plans there's an extra day to stitch!  WOO HOO!

Batteries are dead!

So I can't update pics of my TUSAL or Mary Margaret today, but I was able to scan two of my projects for this past week and weekend, and then tomorrow I will post pics.

This past weekend was International Hermit and Stitch weekend. I love the idea and concept of this weekend, because it's almost like a guiltless reason to stitch all weekend, because everyone else on the list is doing it as well.  I LOVE IT!  I didn't get to spend as much time stitching as I would have liked, we had some commitments and a Lacrosse game to go to on Saturday, and sadly I missed a stitching date with Kati & Edit because of them.  But I was with them in spirit!

I started and finished the First day of Christmas by Prairie Schooler this weekend, so I was thrilled about that.  I am going to love working on these every month, and I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to do them in the IHSW weekends.    This is also so the start of what will be my 2 1/2 sets of 12 Days of Christmas.  I have one full set already by Margaret Sherry and then I have days 1-6 by TW...one that I have always meant to go back to but never did.  Maybe next year.  I don't know why it looks so slanted, it's straight on the fabric.  I will just have to take pics of everything when my batteries are recharged

1st day of Christmas by Prairie Schooler - 32 count Mushroom

I also started and worked on Hummingbird & Fuschias.  It's a good start, and I'll be working on that again this week.  See how far I can get with it anyway.  The scan isn't a very good one..sorry.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Happy new year!

I didn't even get a chance to say Merry Christmas, before it's time to say Happy New Year!

December went by in a blur, between the shopping and the baking and the cooking and the friends and the family and the parties...and lots and lots of puppy cuddles, it all went by in the blink of an eye.  But we had a wonderful holiday!  And Lulu being the perfect lady that she is....didn't even lick a needle of the trees!  She had no intention of doing any of it!  I LOVE HER!!  And she got a couple of things under the tree this year as well.  Some toys, some treats, and a Christmas scarf.  Isn't she lovely?

Got some stitching done! Thank you Sharon for designing us Mistletoe Reindeer! I know I'm a pain. LOL But sooooo worth it in the end (for me anyway...hehehe) So here's a bundle of ornaments that I completed cross stitching.

Snowman #9 - Ursala Michael

Not sure what my focus is going to be in stitching this coming year, but I do know that there's going to be plenty of it.  Ornaments, a few BAP's, SAL's.  Don't know what my month to month is going to be.  I was going to try and do Christmas at Hawk Run's Hallow.  and I still might I just have to get us the courage to do so.  :)
